Edgar Fritz

Edgar Fritz is a digital forensic examiner for Reliance Forensics. He is a Cellebrite Certified Operator (CCO) and Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyst (CCPA). He is also a licensed private investigator in South Carolina.

Mr. Fritz holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Mathematics with an emphasis in Scientific Programming from the University of California San Diego, and a Master’s Degree in Digital Media Forensics from the University of Colorado Denver.

At Reliance, Fritz serves as a technical expert in cellphone, computer, and cloud forensics. He conducts forensic examinations across the full lifecycle of digital evidence, including triage, acquisition, processing, analysis, litigation support, and final disposition. He analyzes data using various forensic tools and techniques, and reports findings to stakeholders. His casework includes trade secret theft investigations, internal corporate investigations, media preservation, government-produced discovery, unauthorized access of personal data, and invasion of privacy. He also analyzes call detail records, GPS coordinates, and cellphone data; evaluates ESI protocols; segregates privileged or relevant information; and permanently deletes proprietary information when required. He prepares written reports, affidavits, and case notes, and presents findings during depositions and trial testimony.

Before joining Reliance, Fritz worked for nearly 20 years in various roles with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. His work focused on computer forensics, cellphone forensics, cloud acquisitions, DVR examinations, Microsoft 365 environments, and e-discovery platforms. He has extensive experience in digital media forensics, including audio, video, and image authentication, enhancement, obfuscation, and extraction. He was a member of the FBI’s Evidence Response Team, Field Audio Video Program, and Cellular Survey Team, with expertise in image analysis, evidentiary photography, geolocation, and call detail records mapping. He is experienced in crime scene management, evidence collection, forensic photography, media encoding and decoding, command-line media processing, and technical report writing. He also served as a certified instructor and mentor, and worked closely with multiple government agencies.
